I think a fitting word for 2024 for me is "reflect" as we welcomed our second child into the world adding extra complications to life.

2025 will be a year of "restoration" as I hope to get back to a previous level of skill (both on and off the bike) and fitness.

Thanks Danielle! Remy joined us the end of January and I was dealing with a "mystery illness" (likely Covid) since November and bronchitis after she was born. So I started off my regular training for the year at a loss as it was. I think i rode my mountain bike 10 times, 1 of which was Race Across Duluth and 7.5% of my riding for the year at that point. I've been roughly tracking mileage since 2009, on Strava since 2011, and this was by far my worst year on the bike since I started using Strava.

Oh, I hear you. I remember losing a couple of years that way when my daughters were each born. It’s a demanding time! And to do so while sick too… that’s a lot. Race across Duluth sounds fun, though. Best of luck to you this year!

I think my word of 2024 is “consistency”. It encapsulates so much. Improving in any aspect of life requires consistency. You have to do it and do it regularly with intent, whatever “it” is.
