Delving into the core of our pursuits is crucial. Whether it's fitness, career ambitions, creative ventures, or relationships, asking ourselves "Why?" uncovers the driving force behind our actions and can lead us to profound transformations, when done thoughtfully.

Yet recently, three conversations prompted me to revisit the nuances of this idea—the first was my chat with Matt Mooney of MTB.Fitness for episode 46, the second was an exchange with a talented musician friend, and the third was my and Jamie’s interview for a forthcoming episode with Braydon Bringhurst, the cyclist who achieved the extraordinary feat of climbing The Whole Enchilada trail in Moab. 

Understanding our "Why?" is not just about motivation, it's also about endurance. It forges a connection between our actions and our deepest values, thereby creating a sustainable path through the inevitable challenges we face. When the going gets tough, that alignment pushes us forward and helps us transcend fleeting whims and superficial motivations. This is what Matt Mooney brought up in episode 46. 

But the second conversation also revealed how we can misuse our idea of purpose to hold ourselves back.
