Thank you for sharing these insights, Danielle. On this idea of not letting fear direct our focus, how do you see this applying to life outside of mountain biking? In times like now, how do we move past what we’re afraid of to find the “lines” we trust ourselves to ride?

Thanks for the question! I hope Sunday's post addressed this comment a bit. But what I'll add here is that is seems to be a balancing act between not hyperfocusing on the fearsome thing, but not burying our heads in the sand or deluding ourselves, either. I used to have a maxim for how I approached life: "Open mind, open heart." I have revised this maxim over the past couple of years after realizing that vulnerability, or openness, without some kind of grounding force to it can be outright dangerous. Thus, my maxim now is: "Open mind, open heart, open eyes." It's been fun to train this in the context of mountain biking because the danger of mountain biking is so clear that we can't really afford to delude ourselves. Hope this helps!
